Let's talk in another 10 years. Adoption takes a long time.
Most startups fail. Lens Protocol may fail too. Doesn't mean the ideas aren't worth exploring. Seems like your startup didn't quite make unicorn status either and I don't know anyone using it but I'm not going to dismiss it straight off the bat.
Lens is invite only atm. And yes, it could definitely take years to become successful if at all.
Elon Musk is paying $43b to get change Twitter. The last 10 years they've done almost nothing. The advantage of a decentralised Twitter is that anyone can contribute and build around it. Twitter's API, but actually being open and not blocking off new clients that want to do things differently.
It's basically Wikipedia vs Encarta. The world building against Twitter. Till now they've had a moat. It will be extremely difficult to breach that moat but if/when it happens with a decentralised solution like Lens we'll be able to go a lot further and won't have to rely on Twitter to make updates, anyone can.
What are the chances of Lens succeeding? Realistically quite low but we'll see where we are in 10 years time.
Crypto and web3 adoption are happening. It took thousands of years for us to get to paper money. And even after being invented in China it was removed and came back a few hundred years later. Took even longer for us to get to fiat currencies. Bitcoin is 13 years old. Give it some time. Web3 is much younger. Adoption is happening but won't happen overnight. And the ideas people have become a lot more feasible the more and more adoption we see.
