I’m really starting to see the value in this recently. Not from what I’ve been giving and receiving, but from what people have been giving to me (and not giving to me).
A lot of people have been giving of their time to me freely recently advising me on different issues. They gain no immediate returns, and I may never pay them back. And there are also those that I’ve spoken to that could easily help me out, but don’t. This includes people I’ve helped out in the past.
In the long run, it’s clear to me that the helpers are the winners. Whether I personally return the favour or someone else does. Those that ask “what’s in it for me?” aren’t going anywhere.
